Torricella Pelignais a small town in the province of Chieti.
A popular tourist destination for mountain excursions, it is located opposite Majella, between the Sangro and Aventino Valleys.
The founding of Torricella is traced according to local tradition to an exodus from the exiles of Juvanum, a Roman town near the nearby town of Montenerodomo, however, the first certain news comes from the 12th century when it was a fief of the Orsini family and, later, of the Counts of Manoppello and the Marquis Celaia of Chieti.

The town center offers a pleasant stroll along the main street overlooked by interesting 19th-century buildings to the Church of St. James, which towers over the historic center.
The church, which dates back to the 10th century, has been remodeled several times over the centuries but preserves a silver ciborium and monstrance of the Neapolitan school and a wooden statue of Our Lady of the Rosary. The shrine of Our Lady of the Roses, three kilometers from the town, has the simplicity and compactness typical of small rural churches. Not far away, imprinted on a limestone cliff, is the mythical footprint of Samson who, according to legend, crossed the entire valley with a single step.

A few kilometers from Torricella lies the ancient village of Fallascoso where the hermitage of San Rinaldo and the Castle of Fallascoso are located.
