More Info
Grottammare is located in the center of the Riviera delle Palme, south of the Marche region and is called the “Pearl of the Adriatic.”
Immediately jumping out at you are the green pine and palm forests, oleander and orange groves, Art Nouveau villas and equipped fine sandy beaches.
Grottamare is the ideal location for sports enthusiasts: with its wide bicycle path, about 20 km long, for some stretches close to the sea, connecting to the south with San Benedetto del Tronto-Porto d’Ascoli and to the north with Cupra Marittima and Pedaso.
On the other hand, the town is spread out at the foot of the rise of Mount Castello on which the medieval core is located, which is built around Peretti Square, with its elegant buildings and splendid belvedere.
Worth visiting, the 17th-century church of Santa Lucia, erected by Camilla Peretti in memory of her brother Sixtus V Felice Peretti who became pope, to whom the Sistine Museum set up in the Church of St. John the Baptist is also dedicated.
Walking along the walls, you can visit the Battle Tower, now used as a museum.
In September, Grottamare hosts Juttènizie, a food and wine festival of flavors, smells, landscape, music and performances; in November, however, there is the St. Martin’s Fair.
