More Info

Valfenera is also known as the “town of seven towers” because of the complex defense system of the ancient castle, consisting precisely of seven towers. The historic center of Valfenera is rich in artistic evidence dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries.

Notable value is attributed to the sacred buildings, among which the Parish Church of Saints Bartholomew and John the Baptist certainly stands out in Rome Square; next door, however, we find the Confraternity of the Holy Spirit, now deconsecrated and devoid of furnishings, which has recently been restored.

A short distance away is the Ciuchè Mocc Bell Tower in Villa Square, an emblem of Valfenera’s ancient history and municipal identity.

There is also a shrine named after St. Andrew and numerous smaller churches in the territory of Valfenera.

For nature lovers, we point out La Rocca, a park with an equipped and educational area.

Among the symbols of Valfenera is certainly the golden humped tench of the Pianalto: it is served fried and in carpione, and it is possible to savor it in the first weekend of June, during the festival dedicated to it.

Instead, during the St. Ursula Fair, scheduled in October, it is possible to taste Bollito Misto, a typical local beef dish.

The St. Bartholomew’s Fair, on the other hand, is dedicated to garlic and “pitu,” the turkey.

Finally, typical recipes include peppers with bagna caoda and hazelnut cake, often accompanied by zabaglione.
