Baceno is a charming village, not far from Domodossola, located in the Antigorio Valley. The entire valley is passable on trails and mule tracks, along transit routes traced by ancient inhabitants and used for millennia.
The tranquil rural and wooded landscape of the picturesque hamlets accompanies the ascent along the hamlet of Croveo, famous for the numerous witchcraft trials that led to the burning of mostly women and some men between the 16th and 17th centuries, to the spectacular Alpe Devero basin in which the Veglia Devero Nature Park is located.
One of the important historical monuments is the 13th-century Church of San Gaudenzio, built in the Romanesque-Gothic style, which provides a good starting point for a walk through the Uriezzo Gorges, a complex of gorges in the Antigorio Valley.
