The village, has retained part of its medieval appearance, with a wall protected by the furrow of two streams: the Metauro and the S. Antonio stream.
Worth visiting, in central Piazza Garibaldi, is the Romanesque Pieve Collegiata, with beautiful Gothic windows and an ancient Byzantine icon depicting Our Lady of Grace. Inside the Collegiate Church is a museum of church furnishings.
Not to be missed are the Church of St. Francis with its adjoining museum, the Birthplace of St. Veronica Giuliani, the Romanesque bridge over the Metauro River, and the Monte di Pietà, founded in 1516 and embellished with a sandstone portal depicting the patient Christ.
The Borgo is famous for its prized black summer truffle or scorzone; goletta, a typical Marche sausage cooked with sage and vinegar; and bostrengo, a typical winter dessert made with walnuts and raisins.
In the first ten days of July there is the Fair of Santa Veronica, and, also in July, the Palio del Somaro, a tournament between the four town districts combined with games, food tastings and a special festival dedicated to tagliatella.
